Windows 11 Tweaks
🚀 These 14 Tweaks Will Make Your Windows 11 PC So Much Better! 🚀
1. Turn off notifications and set up Do Not Disturb 📵
Notifications can be distracting. Disable unnecessary notifications from apps by going to Settings > System > Notifications. Additionally, use the Do Not Disturb feature to automatically silence notifications during specific times, such as while gaming 🎮 or watching movies 🎥.
2. Disable unnecessary startup tasks 🚀
When your PC starts, many apps launch automatically, slowing down your system 🐢. Open Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, navigate to the Startup tab, and disable apps that don’t need to run on startup.
3. Change the theme color 🎨
Personalize Windows 11 by changing the theme color. Go to Settings > Personalization > Colors. You can switch between light 🌞 and dark modes 🌙, and choose an accent color that suits your style. You can also apply this accent color to the Start menu, taskbar, and window borders.
4. Set up a Dev Drive (for developers) 💻
Developers can improve performance by setting up a Dev Drive. This is a special partition for project files, optimized for development. Create one in Settings > System > Storage, and store project files here to benefit from faster load times 🚄.
5. Enable Restore Points 🔄
Protect your system by enabling Restore Points. This allows you to revert your PC to a previous state if something goes wrong. Search for "Restore Point" in the Start menu, select your main drive, and enable system protection 🛡️.
6. Use Storage Sense 🗑️
Automatically clean up unnecessary files with Storage Sense. Go to Settings > System > Storage > Storage Sense and configure it to delete temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin 🗑️, and more on a regular basis.
7. Replace the Start menu 🛠️
If you’re not a fan of the default Start menu, consider replacing it with a third-party alternative like Start11 or StartAllBack, which offer more customization options 🎛️.
8. Align the taskbar to the left ⬅️
If you prefer the taskbar icons to be on the left, like in Windows 10, you can change this in Settings > Personalization > Taskbar. Adjust the Taskbar alignment to "Left" instead of "Center."
9. Disable unwanted taskbar icons ❌
Reduce clutter on your taskbar by disabling unnecessary icons. In Taskbar settings, turn off icons like Task View, Widgets, and Search to clean up your workspace 🧹.
10. Uninstall unnecessary apps 🗑️
Windows 11 comes with many pre-installed apps. Uninstall the ones you don’t need to free up space 💾. You can do this manually in Settings > Apps > Apps & features, or use tools like O&O AppBuster for batch uninstallation.
11. Revert to the classic Windows 10 context menu 🔙
If you miss the old context menu from Windows 10, you can bring it back with a registry tweak 🛠️. Open Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID. Create a new key named {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2} and another subkey named InprocServer32.
12. Disable privacy-invasive features 🔒
Windows 11 tracks user activity for advertising and content recommendations. To protect your privacy, go to Settings > Privacy & security and disable features you don’t want 🛡️.
13. Turn on Night Light 🌙
Reduce eye strain by enabling Night Light, which filters out blue light from your screen. Go to Settings > System > Display > Night Light and schedule it to turn on automatically at sunset 🌅.
14. Disable OneDrive folder backups 🚫
OneDrive automatically backs up your Documents, Pictures, and Desktop folders, which can quickly use up your cloud storage 🌩️. Disable this in OneDrive settings to prevent issues like broken desktop icons on new PCs 🖥️.
